Today’s cocktail will take you through from Friday night to  Saturday brunch, with just one little change.  Our cocktail today is a Mimosa; a champagne-based cocktail with orange juice and  triple sec.  Try pairing it with Honey Baked Brie with Rosemary or Baked Brie en Croute, served with crusty bread.

For brunch tomorrow, leave out the triple sec and you have a Bucks’ Fizz.  Which is the classic champagne and OJ brunch beverage.

Both cocktails go beautifully with anything brunchy, especially scrambled eggs, quiche, smoked salmon,  croissants, fruit and cheese.



1/2 ounce Triple Sec

1 1/2 ounces fresh, chilled orange juice

3 1/2 ounces chilled champagne


Pour ingredients into champagne flutes in the order above

Serve immediately


Note:  For clarification, I use the term “champagne” in its generic sense in this blog; in most cases Australian sparkling wines are fine to use in place of methode champenoise bubbles.
